Counseling Department

Greetings!

My name is Samantha (Sam) Winchell and I am so glad to be your counselor at Sunset Elementary School.  It is my goal as a counselor to help students with personal growth, social skills, goal-setting and other needs that arise during the year.

Throughout the school year I will be going into classrooms to conduct class meetings, and deliver guidance lessons on various topics. Class meetings give students an opportunity to practice solving problems, while guidance lessons are focused around a specific topic such as decision making, study skills, anti-bullying, friendship, organization and time management.  I will also be working with students individually and/or in a small group setting with a focus on similar topics.

Although I work with students on topics as they arise, my goal is to prevent potential problems before they begin.  I can only do this with your support and collaboration.  I hope to be an advocate for your child in the areas of academic, personal/social, and career development.  I am also able to provide consultation to parents and provide information on various resources.

If you have questions, need referrals, would like to refer your child for services, or have any other needs related to your child, please don't hesitate to stop by, call, or email.

I look forward to working with the students, parents and staff at Sunset!
