Mrs. Winchell's Counselor Corner

Welcome to our online Counselor Corner! My goal is to provide as much information and as many resources for students and families as possible. During the school closure in response to COVID-19 I will be using the web page, email and Google Classroom to communicate with students and families. I can still access my voicemail remotely so please call if you have any needs. Below are some fun ways to address social and emotional needs during this time. Please feel free to call and leave a message or email me any time, I will get back to you within 24-48 hours.

It is the mission of the Sunset Elementary Counseling Program to provide ALL students with a consistent comprehensive program based on researched best practices and data in partnership with staff, families, and community to positively impact academic, career and social & emotional development and achievement.

 

Vision

It is the vision of the Sunset Elementary Counseling Program for every student to develop the academic, career, and social & emotional skills to be successful students who are ready for college and career and become responsible and productive citizens.

What is SEL? 
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
